The Romantic Chemise: A Wardrobe Fairy Tale
Once upon a time there was a lonely old blue robe that hung all alone in a dark closet. One day, the lonely blue robe was pulled out of that closet and put on by a very pretty blonde lady who smelled of lavender and vanilla with just a hint of cinnamon. As time went on, the blue robe was worn more and more often by the blonde until one day when new clothes came to live in the closet. The blue robe was quickly introduced to the romantic chemise, the lady’s favorite piece of sleepwear and oh, how happy it made him.
The romantic chemise was every bit as charming and beautiful as the lady, and smelled of lavender and vanilla with a hint of cinnamon as well. Unlike some of the other negligees and nighties that the blue robe had seen parade through here, the romantic chemise was understated, elegant but still very, very sexy. She was creamy white with small puckered gathers at the top. Pale pink ribbon trailed through the puckers and tied closed at the top, at least most of the time. Every now and then the man who sometimes wore the blue robe would tug the ribbon open and the blonde lady would giggle and playfully tell him to stop.
The romantic chemise had nice wide straps, making it more comfortable for the lady to wear and it came just to her knees. The blue robe, made of terry cloth, was built for function but the soft and beautiful, romantic chemise was made of brushed cotton for form over function. The lady had other stuff including a really trampy teddy that kept trying to get tangled up with everything in the closet, but it seemed that her favorite was the romantic chemise.
She bought new ones from time to time. He bought her a few as gifts but none were as favored as the romantic chemise. There was a silk one that he bought her for their first anniversary. There was a pale gray one that she bought on sale. There were pale ones and bright ones and even a few very expensive ones, but she still liked the romantic chemise the best.
There will come a day when the material will give out and the romantic chemise will no longer be- but for now, it is what she reaches for most often, the item that makes her the happiest. She takes her bubble bath, puts on her lotion and then puts on her romantic chemise. And, more times than not, she pulls out the old blue robe for good measure.
