What are the Four Main Rules When Buying Lingerie

Buying lingerie is far more important than we assume, ladies. Whether you are a preteen, looking for that first training bra purchase or replacing a well loved but over worn lingerie set, there are rules for the purchase. Those rules are meant to give you the best lingerie choice not only for your body type but for your pocket book as well. Those four rules: Price, Style, Fit and Color.

Why Price Really Does Matter

If you are buying a bra and panty set that is so jaw droopingly expensive that you have to leave a few bills go for a month or so, you are not likely to wear it on a regular basis, even if you say that you love the thing. Come on, no one wants to sweat or run the risk of spilling something that might stain super expensive lingerie. On the other hand, very inexpensive lingerie might not last through more than a few wears because frankly, you get what you pay for. If you buy cheap, you get cheap and this is no place to keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best. What you are looking for is a middle of the road, an affordable but still well made piece, with quality materials and quality workmanship.

Choosing a Lingerie Style

The Madonna cone bra. Dita von Teese in pin up girl fashions. Lady Gaga in whatever animal she has hollowed out to make a bra from. If you are getting all of your lingerie tips from the celebrity talk sheets, you might well be doing your own body a great disservice. Look at Madonna- even when she was wearing the cone bra, she was dressing to make the most of her body. She has evolved over the years as her body has changed and that is what you should be doing as well. Your lingerie should fit your body, making the most of your shape and your size, because it has only one role: to make your body look better both in and out of your clothes.

Don’t Have a Fit about Having a Fit

The stats are horrific: nearly all women are in the wrong sized bra at any point of the day. You know that your bra doesn’t fit when you groan and put it on in the morning, but here’s a little secret ladies- everyone else knows as well. Get measured and find out what size you really should be wearing.

Color is Key

Finally, don’t discount color as an afterthought when choosing your lingerie. First of all, light colored blouses, dresses and tops should equal light colored bras. Ditto with the bottoms. But, color bleed through is not the only concern here. Too many women just grab a white bra and whatever color panty and then go, but they never feel good about their choice. Look at your skin tone and your complexion, your hair color and even the color of your eyes because that will lead you to a more flattering shade of lingerie.
