Lingerie Trends 2011

The world of fashion moves at the speed of light, typically a few seasons ahead of mere mortals. The world of lingerie is no different from fashion in that regard. The trends that are hottest for 2011 were decided several months ago and include a love affair with the color purple and the return and revisiting of vintage styles. Those trends also include lingerie items that are pulling double duty, marrying form and function in one incredible looking package.

We Love You, Purple Lingerie

The trend of using purples, ranging from barely there lilac and lavender to wild and wicked shades of eggplant and deepest, darkest purple started with last year’s trends but continue to intrigue. Even the shyest of women have found her glory and her confidence after slipping into a purple bra and panty set. It is no wonder at all that purple is the color of royalty.

While there will always be the neutral shades of black, beige and white, other colors in that category are gaining ground fast. Cream colors, barely there blush and only slightly tinted lingerie items are becoming a staple of even the most discriminating lingerie buyer.

Dita Von Teese, if You Please

Burlesque performer, Dita von Teese is known for more than just the graceful and elegant way she wears her lingerie, she has also had her hand in some of the designs for companies like Wonder Bra for years. But, she is now getting ready to spread her creative wings with her own lingerie line, bringing the retro lingerie trend to the forefront. Look for the old school styles to get an update with more modern fabrics and materials.

Double Duty Doo-dads and More

Bras and panties that moisturize your skin? Shape wear that actually helps you to improve your shape while you wear it? You are not dreaming. Double duty lingerie items, including aloe infused items and shape wear with the new fitness band technology are going to be at the forefront, not only because they look good on but because they can actually make you feel better as well.
