Bustiers – The Sexy and the Sassy Addition to Your Wardrobe

No matter what, there is always going to be that one garment that has people scratching their heads and saying they have never seen one. Oh, yes you have, people, you just didn’t know what it was properly called! By definition, a bustier is a strapless bodice- you have certainly seen them a time or two, and ladies, if you have never worn one, you don’t know what you are missing! Most bustier types are short, stopping at the hip bones and fairly tight and if you really want to ramp up the sex appeal, you can choose those that fit like corsets, nipping you in at the waist and giving you a major hourglass shape.

The bustier can come in practically any color but the two most common are black and white. The white bustier is typically sold as part of the bridal lingerie but can also be very useful to wear under the wedding gown as well, especially if the gown is strapless as well. Most of these are hooked with little eye hooks, however there are bustiers that tie close, snap, or even Velcro for quick removal if the mood strikes just right.

The most important factor to look at when choosing your bustier is the fit. If you buy one that does not fit correctly it will not only look odd but will also be less than comfortable while you are wearing it. For most people the largest part of their upper body is where the measurement should be taken, however for those who have apple bodies, they may have more belly to deal with than the average bustier can handle. There are ways to deal with this problem. For those who are really hard to fit, there is the option of going with the shorter bustier which stops just at the waistline and looks like a slightly longer version of the average bra. Additionally, there are bustiers that feature laces or other means of changing the way they fit in various places. A little bit of spandex in the garment can also help it to be more comfortable and to be more accommodating to your figure.

In addition to these features, some bustiers also have boning on the side which can help make the waist look smaller. Keep in mind that these may be less comfortable than the non-boned ones. The bustier, especially the prettier ones can even be worn as more than just underwear and is a dramatic addition to a jacket, skirt combo, just edgy and sexy enough to be really hot but not so much to be considered over the top. Bustiers are a must have addition to your lingerie wardrobe.
