Bustier: The How, the Why and the Why Not

Ah, the bustier, one of the most overlooked pieces of lingerie in the world. Think about it: either you have heard of them and have worn one at least once in your lifetime or you are completely clueless and are not even sure what they are. If you have ever seen Dita Von Teese, you have seen a bustier. Before you start thinking that they are only worn by a certain type of person and that you are never going to be one of that kind, think again. The bustier can be worn by any woman at any time and they will look fabulous.

The Bustier: The How

The first how to conquer: how to find the right fit in the bustier. The bustier fits from your bust to your waist. If there is a huge difference in the measurements between those two, you may have to opt for a more custom fitting or looser, stretchier material for your bustier. If you are simpler to fit, go by the size that is the biggest. Most women fit their bustier by their bust size.

The second how: how to put yours on. Some bustiers will have hooks or snaps up the back, some will lace up like old fashioned corsets and some will simply pull over your head. I have even seen one that had a size zipper but it did not look very comfortable at all. Choose what suits you best.

The Why

Why would you wear a bustier? To feel sexy, to give yourself a nipped in waist and hourglass appearance and of course, because they are fun to wear. If you have a special evening that you would like to look exceptionally trim for, then the bustier can be a very good idea.

Why Not?

So you are standing in the store and you are holding a beautiful bustier, wondering whether or not you should buy it. You don’t really need it. You don’t really think you will wear it more than a few times. But, it is one of those times in your life when you have to say, why not?
