The Latest Lingerie from Dita Von Teese

If you do not know the name Dita Von Teese, where have you been hiding, exactly, my dear? The beautiful burlesque star and ultimate corset diva has not only been a much photographed staple in a number of industries, she was also married to shock rocker, Marilyn Manson for a time. Bringing beauty and grace to everything that she does, the lady has her own lingerie line, something that she considers very close to her lovely heart.

A little bit about Dita: she was raised in Michigan as a blonde, if you can believe it. Fans know her now as a dark haired beauty with flawless, pale white skin and an incredible figure. Part of the credit for that body goes to her excellent diet and disciplined exercise routine, part to good genetics and part to the fact that she corset trains. But, she also knows what lingerie works the best with her body and how to play up her spectacular appearance.

Even as a burlesque performer, she prefers lady like outfits, so her lingerie line reflects that. One of her favorite things are the old school, sheer stockings, including a few with seams up the back. If you have never owned a pair of stockings before, it might be time to try them. Not only are they a daring, flirtatious way to show off a great pair of stems, they are also a very interesting way to bring yourself into the world of sexy lingerie without making a major investment.

Dita is undoubtedly very tiny, with a petite, nipped in waist and delicate features, but that does not mean that she expects everyone to wear the same size as she. In fact, she has said in interviews that women should work harder to celebrate their own bodies rather than to try to force it to comply with the images they see from other women. To that end, Dita’s lingerie line has an offshoot for “curvy women” that features many of the same designs as the other lines, as well as a few items specially created just for the women that are more rounded or softer. Bridal Lingerie – Sexy and Lacy

When a bride shops for her lingerie, there are two things in her mind: the wedding and the wedding night. For most brides, there are two different types of lingerie that will be needed with one common theme, lace.

Bridal Lingerie: For the Wedding Itself

The gown is exquisite. The hair and makeup will take hours to complete. Dozens of guests, photographers and the anxious groom are all breathlessly waiting to see the pay off from all of this hard work. But, what about the lingerie that you wear as you walk down the aisle? Doesn’t matter much, right? Wrong! Even though no one is going to see it once the gown goes on over top of it, that lingerie can play a very important role in how you look and how you feel. No one wants to get their wedding photos back only to see shot after shot of a grimacing bride- or worse, shots of the bride trying to pull her panties free after she has gotten yet another wedding day wedgie.

The lingerie that you choose for your wedding day should fit and fit comfortably. It should not show through the dress (no red panties under a white wedding gown, ladies!) and should hold everything where it needs to be. And while it should not need to be said, sometimes it does: no straps on a bra if the dress is strapless. Try on lingerie with the dress or buy new lingerie after finding the dress and for the love of all that is good and matrimonial, do a practice run to make sure that there are no wardrobe malfunctions.

Bridal Lingerie: For the Wedding Night

For most women, the tradition is to wear white lingerie on the wedding night. But, if you are marrying someone that you have been living with or are on marriage number two or three, then virginal is not a role you have to try to play anymore.  Still, if you want to have white and lacy lingerie for the first night as man and wife, more power to you. Just remember that you can choose other colors, no matter what that color might be. 

This is your night. This is the night that you should feel like a princess, like the most beloved woman in the world. Make him wait for you while you pamper yourself with a hot soak in the bath. After the whirlwind stress of the wedding day, you deserve it. Frankly, if he has been drinking at the wedding reception, this little time might be just the thing he needs to prepare himself for the moment the bathroom door opens and his bride, his new wife, walks out in her beautiful, lacy lingerie, with the look of love on her face and a glow in her heart.

The New Vintage Look Lingerie

Pin up girls will never be out of style, of that you can be assured. Whether you want to look like one of the famous pin ups in your own bedroom or are thinking about taking the plunge and having some boudoir photos taken, vintage lingerie might be the perfect suggestion for the wardrobe.

The popularity of the boudoir photo has literally exploded. Women are choosing to have them done to thrill a lover, to celebrate a milestone birthday or to mark their success with a body transformation. They are even choosing to have them done to celebrate a return to better health after a serious illness. They are good to re-establish femininity as well. While you can choose what to wear and what to take off during your personal photo shoot, many women are happiest wearing vintage lingerie because they want to bring back the wanton sex appeal of the old days- the pin up girls like Betty Grable, Jean Harlow and Jane Russell.

But, before you start getting squeamish, thinking that people are suggesting that you find real, vintage lingerie, take a big breath and relax, Nancy. Instead of finding lingerie that actually lived through the forties, fifties or beyond, you can find the new, modern made items that are made to look like the old days items. Number one, real lingerie from the forties, if it has actually lived to this point, is probably historical or valuable and not meant for wearing in the first place. Number two, the materials from those days would not necessarily be anything you want against your skin. And some of those materials are no longer even used because they were just not what they were cracked up to be!

If you are not interested in boudoir photos, you still might prefer some of the vintage lingerie pieces over the more modern styles because the styles were a little more subtle, a little more demure than they are these days. They are perfect for the woman who would like to leave a little more to the imagination. They were also designed for a time period when women were expected to have a different type of shape, so the average woman may find them more figure flattering.

Sexy Sleepwear – Taking it Up a Notch

There was an article published recently, discussing some of the keys to getting a better night’s sleep and explaining exactly why sleep is important to health and fitness. What was most interesting about this article was the fact that women who wear sloppy tee shirts or flannel pajamas to bed night after night, even in the cold months of winter may be setting themselves up for poor sleep quality, directly impacting their sex lives as well. Both factors are important aspects of health. If you can’t bring yourself to give up the fluffy jammies every night, then make it a rule to break out the sexy sleepwear at least once or twice a week, just to make sure that you are keeping the home fire’s stoked and getting all of the benefits of a healthy sex life and a good sleep.

Sexy sleepwear does not have to mean uncomfortable ladies. Think about a sexy, silky camisole and tap pant combo. Ultra silky, super sexy and best of all, comfortable and simple to wear. As an added bonus, think of this: the right color camisole can be transitioned to day time wear as well. Wow, you are sexy and smart at the same time!

There are other options for sexy sleepwear as well. A long night gown is perfect for the woman who is just a little more reluctant to bare too much winter white skin.  A cute teddy with high leg cuts can make your legs look longer and thinner than they really are. If you choose a teddy with a little bit of stretch, it will still be comfortable to sleep in.

That might be the problem: most women think they have to choose either sexy or comfortable enough to sleep in but that is not true. They can actually wear things that are both sexy and comfortable at the same time; stuff they can wear to rock his world in and then to cuddle up and fall asleep in. You don’t have to give up one to have the other if you know what your own personal comfort levels are. For some women, that means nothing binding, nothing heavy or nothing so long it will tangle around her ankles. For others, it might mean something with a little form and a little substance. And then, there is the rumor that Dita Von Teese even sleeps in her corset! To each her own, right?

On a cold winter’s night, it is perfectly fine to slip into bed with your silky nightgown on, shivers of both cold and anticipation rippling down your spine. That is perfectly normal and acceptable as long as you are going to look at your man and say “warm me up, love”. Remember: it’s good for your health.

Sexy Lingerie – This Year’s Trend

Every year, retailers release their numbers for their sales for the entire year, hoping that they have found the magic items that sold well for the previous twelve months. If they were pinning hopes on regular underwear, they were sorely disappointed. However, for those selling sexy lingerie, this year might have been a better than average for most. Sexy lingerie sells well, even when the economy is in the basement. And why is that, have you ever wondered? There are probably a lot of very interesting reasons.

First, in hard times, couples tend to spend more time at home with one another. Instead of racing out to the movies or an expensive meal at a pricey restaurant, they may opt to pop in a favorite movie and eat a home cooked meal and while those things are sweet and lovely, they could use a little spicing up after a while.
